The McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT®) is a method of evaluating and treating spinal and extremity disorders. It has been widely used around the world for more than 30 years and is currently practiced in 36 countries.
The MDT® system places emphasis on self-treatment by assessing and classifying injury into one of four categories. Three of these categories respond to repetitive mechanical loading – or repeated directional exercises – to decrease present symptoms.
If a directional preference is identified, the patient is able to self-treat at home and, if the pain returns, will ideally be able to treat themselves without intervention. The McKenzie System® is designed to achieve positive outcomes in as few treatments as possible.
Dr. Jess has taken the following MDT® courses:
McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy®, Part A: Lumbar Spine course
McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy®, Part B: Cervical & Thoracic course
